Explore Kampong Cham by Tuk Tuk

Experience a half-day journey through the cultural and natural beauty of Kampong Cham, starting from our bamboo-built eco resort. Our tuk tuk tour brings you into the heart of this riverside province, offering a genuine connection to local life—from ancient temple grounds to colourful markets and open countryside.

Your driver, one of our trusted local partners, will guide you to meaningful places both historic and modern. As with all activities at Hanchey Bamboo Resort, this experience directly supports local livelihoods and the vocational training of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Come with curiosity, leave with stories. This is how we explore, Cambodian-style.

Experience Kampong Cham’s Spiritual and Cultural Heritage

Start your tour with a visit to Wat Hanchey, one of the region’s most scenic and sacred places. Offering panoramic views and colourful statues of giant fruit, naga serpents, and guardian deities that watch over the grounds. It’s also an important spiritual site with roots in pre-Angkorian times.

Then venture through the city where Nokor Banchey’s striking temple complex blends ancient sandstone structures with an active modern pagoda. Inside, incense smoke drifts beneath centuries-old lintels, and you'll often hear monks chanting softly in the background. The site is still very much part of daily spiritual life in the area.

Each stop on the route offers something different—history, culture, views, and real moments of Khmer life.

  • Bamboo Island (Koh Pen) – A peaceful Mekong island with fishing villages, fields, and sandy walking paths. Accessible all year round by boat, or in dry season via the famous bamboo bridge.

  • Riverfront – Kampong Cham's riverside promenade is alive with small eateries, coffee stalls, and the steady flow of local life.

  • French Watchtower – A timeworn colonial lookout by the river, offering a glimpse into the region’s past.

  • Local Market – Stop here for a quick walk among food stalls and handmade goods. Bring small riel if you’d like to taste or shop.
