Goodbye Kwame, Welcome to Hanchey Natalie

2020 has been great so far, for us here in Kampong Cham - The Mekong was low, the dry season was kind, and our guests were enjoying open skies and quiet mornings around the bamboo houses. In January, we welcomed back Kwame as our resident yoga teacher, whose calm teaching and generous spirit added so much to the atmosphere at Hanchey Bamboo Resort.

During his time with us, he led our guests for daily sunrise and sunset yoga and meditation sessions in the Lotus Shala, and even ran acro yoga and handstand workshops for guests visiting from Phnom Penh and Siam Reap - guiding them with a light, encouraging touch. The dry season also allowed him to hold a special yoga session on the Hidden Island beach during one of our Beach BBQ trips - a memory many guests still talk about. He’s supported our team by joining trips to the sunflower fields and Kampong Cham’s famous bamboo bridge, sharing easy conversation and curiosity with everyone. And behind the scenes, he even supported our team with his web design skills in putting parts of this website online - a small but meaningful gift helping us share Hanchey with the world.

Thank you Kwame, we hope you will return once again in the near future and we look forward to seeing you soon!

And for any guests looking to stay in contact you can follow him on his website Acro With Kwame.

As the season moves on, we now welcome a new teacher into our little community.

Natalie, a yoga teacher from South Africa, arrived only a few days ago to take over and continue our yoga and meditation offerings here on the hill. She’ll be offering a blend of Traditional Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga daily and free of charge to all guests visiting our resort. Already her sunrise and sunset classes are bringing a gentle and calming energy to our resort. Guests have told us how steady and refreshing her teaching feels - the kind of yoga that helps you settle into the rhythm of the river below.

She joins us as part of our ongoing training environment with BSDA, supporting our mission to grow opportunities for local youth while offering guests a peaceful experience. She’s already made herself part of the family here and our team absolutely loves her - especially our receptionist Pauli who she’s been sharing her guitar skills with already!

If you are visiting soon, you will surely meet her in the Lotus Shala, playing music by the pool, creating art on her bungalow’s terrace or just out and about during an evening walk around the grounds. We are happy to have her here, and grateful to both teachers for sharing their light with Hanchey Bamboo Resort.

You can find out more about Natalie and follow her on Instagram.
